We grow what thrives in Virginia Beach's climate across both our seasons — a 29-week Summer CSA (April–November) and a 20-week Winter CSA (November–April). Summer shares burst with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and warm-weather crops. Winter shares are built around greens, roots, and brassicas that thrive in Hampton Roads cold. Here's the full picture.
We don't pre-plan your box months in advance and then force-fit produce to match. Your share reflects what's actually thriving on the farm that week. Some weeks it's an abundance of spinach; other weeks it's the first broccoli of the season. That's farming — and we think it's part of what makes the vegetables taste so good.
We choose our seeds based on flavor and performance in Hampton Roads' climate — not on what ships well or looks good in a bag. When you taste a Pungo Farm carrot or a New Girl tomato fresh from the field, you'll understand why variety selection matters. We're always trialing new varieties to find what performs best for Virginia Beach's growing conditions.
Every vegetable on this list was grown using organic practices — nothing that isn't approved for organic growing. We're not certified organic — certification is a significant cost burden for small farms — but we hold ourselves to organic practices on every crop. You can visit the farm and see for yourself.
