The Virginia Beach CSA That's Actually Grown in Virginia Beach

Most CSA farms serving Virginia Beach truck their produce in from hours away. Pungo Farm is different: we grow everything right here, in the Pungo/Back Bay agricultural corridor at the southern edge of Virginia Beach. When you join Pungo Farm's Virginia Beach CSA, your vegetables were in the ground this week — not in a warehouse.

the Pungo Farm team started Pungo Farm because they wanted to grow real food for their neighbors without compromise. Organic practices, no synthetic inputs, no shortcuts. Just a Virginia Beach family farming the land that Virginia Beach has slowly been losing to development.

What's in Your Virginia Beach CSA Share

Your weekly share reflects what's actually thriving on the farm that week. Winter shares from our Virginia Beach CSA are built around hardy crops that handle Hampton Roads winters well — roots, leafy greens, brassicas, storage crops, and whatever we've succession-planted to keep the boxes interesting all season.

  • Kale and collard greens (Black Magic kale, multiple collard varieties)
  • Broccoli and cauliflower (fall through early spring)
  • Carrots (Romance variety, Jang-seeded for density)
  • Turnips, radishes, and storage beets
  • Winter lettuce and salad mix
  • Fresh herbs — dill, cilantro, parsley
  • Onions, garlic, and storage alliums
  • Plus whatever surprises the season brings

Every box comes with a weekly email from the farm explaining what's in your share, where it came from on the farm, and simple ways to use it. Most of our Virginia Beach CSA members say the emails are half the value.

Virginia Beach CSA Pickup Location

Virginia Beach CSA members pick up weekly at our Pungo-area pickup site — right in the community where we farm. We'll send the exact address when you enroll. Pickup is every Wednesday — 2–7 PM at our Virginia Beach locations (2–6 PM at Simply Sourced Health Nut) — a window that works for working families.

Can't make it one week? We work with you. Our Virginia Beach CSA is built around real life, not rigid rules.

Why Families Choose Pungo Farm Over Other Virginia Beach CSAs

Virginia Beach has a few CSA options, but Pungo Farm is the only one where you can drive by the field where your vegetables grew. That proximity matters: shorter time from harvest to pickup means more nutrients, better flavor, and a direct connection to the land that produced your food.

We keep our Virginia Beach CSA intentionally small. That's not a marketing line; it's a commitment to quality. When you're one of a small number of members instead of one of hundreds, the Pungo Farm team actually knows your family.

Virginia Beach CSA FAQ

Where exactly is the Virginia Beach CSA pickup?

Pickup is in the Pungo area of Virginia Beach — we send the exact address after you enroll. It's convenient to the southern Virginia Beach community and only minutes from the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge.

Is Pungo Farm certified organic?

We are not USDA certified organic — certification is expensive and not always accessible for small farms. But we grow using organic practices — no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and nothing that isn't approved for organic growing, anywhere on the farm. You can visit and see for yourself.

What if I'm out of town one week?

Let us know in advance and we'll work something out — hold, donate to a neighbor, or arrange a pickup swap. We're a small CSA and we're flexible with Virginia Beach members.

When does the Virginia Beach CSA season run?

Our Winter 2026–2027 season runs November 25, 2026 through April 7, 2027 — 20 weeks. We also run a Summer CSA. Join our list to be notified when Summer 2026 enrollment opens.

Do you also have a Chesapeake pickup location?

Yes — Chesapeake families can pick up at our Chesapeake VA CSA location. Same share, closer to home for Chesapeake members.

Can I visit the farm?

We're open to farm visits for CSA members. Reach out and we'll schedule a time. There's nothing quite like seeing where your food actually grows here in Virginia Beach.
