How Pungo Farm's CSA Works

Community Supported Agriculture is one of the oldest models in farming. You support the farm upfront, the farm grows your food, and every week you pick up what's fresh. Here's how it works at Pungo Farm.

1

You join the farm.

Choose your payment option — pay in full for the season ($725, save $35) or reserve your spot with your first monthly payment of $152. That commitment is what makes the CSA model work. It tells the Pungo Farm team: grow for us. We're in.

2

We grow your food.

The team tends every row at Pungo Farm — organic practices, no shortcuts, no outside sourcing. What goes in your box came out of the ground on this farm. Winter shares are built around what thrives in Virginia Beach through the cold months: hearty greens, roots, brassicas, storage crops, and whatever we've been succession-planting.

3

You pick up weekly.

Pickup is every Wednesday at the location you choose: Pungo Farm (Back Bay) 2–7 PM, Oceanfront Virginia Beach 2–7 PM, Simply Sourced Health Nut 2–6 PM, or Greenbrier (Chesapeake) 2–7 PM. We harvest close to pickup day — so what's in your bag was in the ground recently. That's the whole point.

4

We send you a weekly email.

Before each pickup, you'll get an email from the farm with what's in your box that week, where it came from on the farm, and ideas for using it. Members tell us the emails are half the value. Every email is written by hand — no templates, no marketing speak.

Summer CSA & Winter CSA

Pungo Farm runs two CSA seasons every year. The Summer season is our main event — 29 weeks of full-tilt Virginia Beach growing. The Winter season keeps things going through the cold months with the crops that thrive in Hampton Roads winters.

Main Season

☀️ Summer CSA

April 7 – November 19  ·  29 weeks

Our flagship season. Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, squash, beans, watermelon, and everything the Virginia Beach summer has to offer — plus a 4-week break in August while we transition crops.

📍 Pickup locations TBD each season
💵 $38/week
Second Season

❄️ Winter CSA

November 25 – April 7  ·  20 weeks

Hardy greens, roots, brassicas, and storage crops grown through Hampton Roads winters using our high tunnel infrastructure. Enrollment is open now for the 2026–2027 season.

📍 Wednesdays: Pungo Farm (Back Bay), Oceanfront VB, Simply Sourced, Greenbrier (Chesapeake)
💵 $725 pay in full  ·  $152/month

We send enrollment announcements to our email list first. The best way to make sure you don't miss a season is to join the CSA — members who renew get first access every time.

What Makes a CSA Different

When you buy from a grocery store, you pay for what's already been grown, shipped, and stored. When you join a CSA, you pay for what's about to be grown — and that changes everything. the Pungo Farm team can plan for your family. They can grow what's best for the season, not what ships well from 2,000 miles away.

It also means you share in the abundance. A good week in the fields is a great week in your kitchen. That's the deal — and it's one worth making.
